Don Keene paints scenes of New York City and surrounding towns with compassion and
spontaneity. His loose application of thick, rich oils breathes life and light into recognizable
places around the metropolitan landscape. Reminiscent of both French Impressionism and early
twentieth century American Realism, his pictures sparkle with humanity whether capturing the
quickened pace of Manhattan or the casual lifestyle of neighboring villages.

Born in Syracuse, N.Y., Don Keene is a graduate, with distinction, of the Art Center College
of Design in Pasadena, Calif. He earned his Masters degree in Studio Art from the College of
New Rochelle. His paintings have appeared in Sports Illustrated and The New York Times
as well as on covers for RCA records. Mr. Keene has shown in  numerous group and solo
exhibitions in Westchester County, New York City, and Connecticut. Currently he teaches
art at Mamaroneck High School as well as group classes and private lessons at his studio in
New Rochelle. Mr. Keene has taught at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.
